Last month, Scarlett and her mother visited my Wahroonga studio for a dance photography session. Scarlett needed a variety of shots for her auditions, so we reviewed a few examples beforehand to ensure we captured the style they had in mind.

The session took a bit longer than anticipated, but it was well worth it! We captured numerous dance poses, along with several portraits showcasing different hairstyles - both relaxed and with Scarlett's hair in a bun. In the end, we even managed to create a beautiful fine art image that will serve as a treasured memory and stunning wall display for Scarlett and her family.

Greetings to our beloved customers, friends, and supporters,

As we approach the end of 2022, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude for your continued support throughout this year. We hope that this holiday season fills your hearts with joy, love, and peace.

As we look forward to the new year, we are excited to announce that our photo studio will be celebrating its 10th anniversary in August 2023! It's hard to believe that a decade has passed since we started this journey, and we couldn't have done it without your trust and support. To show our appreciation, we will be hosting several giveaways throughout the year, so keep an eye out for those.

Please note that our studio will be closed from December 22nd, 2022, until January 15th, 2023, for the Christmas break. During this time, we will not be processing any orders or digital downloads. We will resume full operation in January 2023.

What a sad day for Australian photography industry. Australian Institute of Professional Photography is closing down after unprecedented financial pressure from the Covid-19 pandemic.

QR check-in and vaccination statements:

QR check-in is required upon arrival.

Before 1 December 2021 the vaccination status has to be shown ON ARRIVAL.

Accepted documents are - Covid-19 certificate, Immunisation Statement, Contraindication Form or Immunisation Statement that includes Contraindication.

Important! Please DO NOT send us any health documentation (these are not allowed to be accepted or stored by our studio because we are not equipped to handle health data). Information about your vaccination status is sensitive information and is afforded a higher degree of protection under the Privacy Act. 

The NSW Governement requires the clients to SHOW these documents on arrival either in printed or electronic version.

Our staff is either fully vaccinated or have medical exemption, all available to view on request.

Social Distancing:

Physical or social distancing means reducing the close physical contact we have with people and staying 1.5 metres away from people we don't live with. 

People living in the same household do not need to be 1.5 metres from each other.

Face Masks:

Face masks are compulsory indoors. Can be taken of during photoshoot, wadrobe change, applying make-up, fixing hair or drinking. We kindly ask our customers to not bring food onto our premises (does not apply for babies and children up to 3 years old).

Sanitasation:

Studio is cleaned and sanitised before and after each visit. 

Regular hand washing and sanitising is required for the photographer who will also wear a masks at all times indoor even when using / photographing with a camera.

We kindly ask all our customers to use a hand sanitiser when entering our studio and after a use of amenities.

Reducing the risk of Covid-19 infection:

To keep yourself and others safe

• wash your hands often and thoroughly with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitiser
• avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
• keep a distance of 1.5 metres between yourself and other people
• do not shake hands, hug or kiss as a greeting
• if possible, use debit and credit cards instead of cash and make use of online and self-serve transactions.

Today I wanted to share with you an example of my work manaement and mainly what I can edit in Photoshop.

Often clients don't think there is much to edit and all you need is a good camera. Well, the reality is, the camera itself won't take great photos, with a preparation for the photo session there are many more steps that follow.. In my case, it is years of experience, education and use of different equipment and techniques that help me create my images (e.g. lighting, reflectors, make-up fix, backdrops, props, styling and posing). When I export the RAW files onto my PC, I first go through all images taken (always more than 100 photos for each photo session) and I delete unusable images (blurred, not sharp, the person closed their eyes, unflattering poses etc.).

Once all the above is done, I apply first edit TO ALL remaining images (this includes colour management, enhacements, sharpening, cropping etc.). I then export pre-edited images and share an online gallery with a client. They will choose their final images based on their chosen photo package but also have an option to purchase additional photographs.

When I receive the finalised order I apply the final edit (see the animation below). You would think what do I need to edit on a child's portrait? I fix the hair (hanging around or in the face), make the perfect hair bun, "slim"down the shoes to fit the ballerina's feet and I also adjust the colours, lights and shadows plus sharpen the photo. I export all photos in high res (ready to print particular size) and low resolution quality suitable for sharing online (these inlude my watermark). hope you are all keeping safe and healthy during this world pandemic.
Just a heads up, we are open and you can book a photo-shoot with us.
We have, however, implemented few new measurements in order to keep us and our customers safe.
We do practice social distancing during our photo sessions and we also shoot outdoors for all photo session except for newborn and corporate head-shots where again strict social distancing is applied. No other photo sessions are available in our studio at this moment.
Also, if you are unwell, you can postpone your photo session for FREE until you and your family are well.
We ask everyone who is unwell even with even mild symptoms to inform us immediately and postpone their photo sessions. The same would be applied if any of our staff was unwell.

We are looking forward to capturing memories for you in 2020.
